Dixie State College Athletics Annual Hall of Fame Scholarship Golf Tournament PDF Print E-mail
(ST. GEORGE, Utah – July 30, 2009) Dixie State College Athletics and The Dixie Athletic Club is hosting the Third-Annual DSC Hall of Fame/Dixie Athletic Club Cup Golf Tournament on Saturday, August 29, 2009, at the Sunbrook Golf Course. Proceeds from the tournament will go to benefit DSC student-athletes and athletic scholarships.

The tournament will be played in a four-person scramble format with a shotgun start at 8 a.m., with check-in beginning at 7 a.m. Cost is $150 per player/$500 per team, which includes green fees, cart, and lunch. In addition, there will be tee prizes, games, drawings and prizes for the top-three teams.

“We are excited about many things involving the Dixie Athletic Club this upcoming year, one of them being our Dixie Athletic Club Golf Tournament during our Hall of Fame weekend,” said 2009-10 Dixie Athletic Club president Vasu Mudliar. “This is an awesome opportunity for everyone to come meet and support our wonderful coaches and student athletes at Dixie State.”

Former Churchill Downs and NFL executive to head LVMS sales team PDF Print E-mail

Mike_MossholderLAS VEGAS – Mike Mossholder has been named vice president of sales and marketing for Las Vegas Motor Speedway. 
        Mossholder comes to LVMS from his post as vice president of sales and marketing for Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky.  Prior to working at the famed horse-racing facility, Mossholder spent five years as director of marketing partnerships for the Miami Dolphins and Dolphin Stadium (now Landshark Stadium).  While with the Dolphins, he was instrumental in securing corporate partnerships for the NFL team as well as for the 2007 and 2010 Super Bowls, the 2009 BCS Championship game and the Florida Marlins.

        “We’re very happy to have Mike joining our management team here at Las Vegas Motor Speedway,” said LVMS president Chris Powell. “Mike brings a wealth of experience in professional sports and sports-venue sales and marketing to LVMS. He’s coming from the most famous horse-racing facility in the world to one of the world’s most popular motorsports facilities.

“Mike will be a key addition to an already strong staff here at LVMS. We’re glad he’s decided to exchange horses for horsepower.”

        Mossholder, 45, is a graduate of the University of South Carolina.  He and his wife, Arlen, have two children, Marisa and Ariana.

        “I’ve been very fortunate to work for some premier organizations and facilities,” Mossholder said.  “I’ve always been intrigued by motorsports, and no facility has a better reputation in the industry than Las Vegas Motor Speedway.  I’m looking forward to helping our speedway continue its trend of growth, and my family and I are excited to be relocating to the Las Vegas community.”

 
Contest to design Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series PDF Print E-mail

LAS VEGAS – Las Vegas Motor Speedway is inviting all artists, designers, photographers and race fans to enter a contest to design the cover of the Las Vegas 350 NASCAR Camping World Truck Race souvenir program. The contest will run from Aug. 1-Sept. 1 and the winning entry will become the cover of the souvenir program for the Saturday, Sept. 26 event.

        The winning contestant also will be a VIP guest of LVMS and will receive four suite and Neon Garage passes for the Las Vegas 350 and will be photographed with the race winner in victory lane.

Contestants must submit a high-resolution 8 ½” x 11” vertical (a.k.a. “portrait”) color or black-and-white design by Sept. 1. Artwork must depict themes pertaining to Las Vegas and racing. Open to any medium, including, photography, drawings and paintings. If you incorporate photographic images in your design, you must certify they are yours or you have the photographer’s rights to use them.

All entries will become property of Las Vegas Motor Speedway and cannot be returned. The winning entry will be used in the promotion of the event.

Midnight Mayhem Presented By MetroPCS PDF Print E-mail

LAS VEGAS – Midnight Mayhem Presented By MetroPCS – The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s safe alternative to illegal street racing – will resume Friday night, July 31.  Gates will open at 8 p.m. and street-legal racing will take place from 9 p.m.-1 a.m.

Now in its eighth year, Midnight Mayhem Presented By MetroPCS is open to any licensed driver with proof of insurance. Minors must present a signed parental consent form, which may be obtained by calling The Strip’s office at (702) 632-8213.

The popular late-night program is open to any street-legal car or motorcycle. All vehicles must undergo technical and safety inspections before they are allowed to race on LVMS’ quarter-mile drag strip.
