Lupus Victim Starts Support Group

The lupus support group will meet 7 p.m. April 11 at the Hurricane Library. Carol Record believes there is a need for a support group and if enough people sign up, the group should be able to get a lupus symposium in Southern Utah.

Local Businesses Support Job Sampling Program

The Transitional Job Sampling program, sponsored by the Hurricane High School, helps students with mild to severe disabilities prepare to transition into the workforce. Students work in different local businesses for one hour a day, Monday through Thursday, for about three weeks at a time through out the school year. The program teaches students skills they will need on a day to day basis after graduation from high school, said Content Marshall, a Special Education educator with Hurricane High School, who oversees the program.
